Iran has reached a preliminary agreement with Britain, Germany, and France to resume negotiations on its nuclear program. The negotiations could take place as early as next week, DW reports citing the Iranian agency Tasnim.

'A fundamental agreement to hold negotiations has been reached, but consultations regarding the time and place of their holding are ongoing. The country that could host the negotiations next week has not yet been determined,' Tasnim reports citing an informed source.

The three European countries, along with China and Russia, remain participants in the nuclear deal with Iran, reached in 2015. The United States withdrew from it in 2018. This deal provided for the lifting of sanctions on Iran in exchange for limiting its nuclear program.

The 'snapback mechanism' allows for the restoration of UN sanctions until the expiration of the Security Council resolution's validity on October 18, which enshrines the agreement on the nuclear deal.

The agreement between Iran and the three European countries to resume negotiations on the nuclear program reflects the parties' intention to find a diplomatic solution in the field of nuclear security. The support of China and Russia as participants in the agreement is also important in the context of international cooperation and maintaining stability in the region.
