Philosopher Datsiuk on Ukraine's Condition: A 'Reverse Clausewitz' Scenario

Філософ Датсюк про сучасну ситуацію в Україні: новий погляд на військові виклики.

Serhii Datsiuk's Interview on Ukraine's Information Landscape

In an interview with Yurii Romanenko, philosopher Serhii Datsiuk argued that Ukraine's information space is deeply contradictory. He highlighted the concurrent narratives of war and pre-election activity dominating the country. Datsiuk asserted that Ukraine finds itself in a 'reverse Clausewitz' situation, where politics is subordinated to war, and called for a return to the classic formula where war serves as an instrument of politics. This critique comes at a time when Ukraine's strategic direction is under intense domestic and international scrutiny.

The Urgent Need for a Strategic Shift

The philosopher emphasized the critical need to change the approach to managing the situation.

"To develop a politics that includes elections, you must invert the situation. You must make it so that war is managed by politics. Yes, not as it is now—not 'reverse Clausewitz' but direct Clausewitz. You need to return to direct Clausewitz,"
Datsiuk noted. He also stressed that Ukraine is currently dependent on decisions from the U.S. administration, stating:
"For now, you are being managed by Trump."

Furthermore, Datsiuk called for active steps in conflict resolution, expressing the necessity for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Try to manage the war. Try to negotiate with Putin directly. Although, who am I telling this to..."
he said. According to him, restoring public trust requires not only discussing the war but also presenting a prospect for peace.
"But to get there, you already need to work: present the reality of peace to society, forget about eternal war, speak of negotiations as a legitimate [option], and build a perspective for peace,"
Datsiuk emphasized.

Concluding the interview, the philosopher remarked that the current authorities fail to grasp the real state of affairs when speaking of elections.

"The way the authorities act today—they are fools who simply do not understand which reality they are in when they talk about elections,"
he summarized. The interview provoked a lively reaction, especially after a viewer's comment reflecting the topic's relevance was read on air.

The views expressed by Serhii Datsiuk underscore the complexity of Ukraine's political situation, where war and politics are intertwined, and society yearns for peace. His calls for a change in political management and for direct talks with Russia highlight the urgency of finding paths to conflict resolution. These issues remain a focal point not only for politicians but also for a society awaiting concrete steps toward peace. Thus, the interview raises crucial questions about Ukraine's future amid war and political instability.
