Dmytro Shevchenko Announces His Enlistment
On June 15, his 42nd birthday, Dmytro Shevchenko—the runner-up from the reality show 'The Bachelor' (Ukrainian version)—revealed he has enlisted in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He shared a photo in military uniform and confirmed that his project 'Body Psychology' will continue operating despite his new circumstances.
A professional coach with a background in gymnastics, swimming, boxing, and kickboxing, Shevchenko has competed in over 350 fights and holds the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine. He gained widespread recognition in 2021 after appearing on the second season of 'The Bachelor,' where the lead was singer Zlata Ognevich. Shevchenko made it to the finale, but Ognevich chose another contestant, Andrii Zadvornyi.
Duty and the Path Ahead
“A year ago, I could not have imagined celebrating this birthday in such a way. But life changes, and everyone makes their own choice.” — Dmytro Shevchenko
Commenting on his enlistment, Shevchenko underscored the importance of service: 'This year I joined the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Because I fully understand that border guards are key to the nation's security. Our borders are our home.'
He also expressed hope for the future: 'I don't know what the next year will bring, but I do know—I want to face it with honor, faith, and dignity. Faith in myself, my brothers-in-arms, and Ukraine.' Despite new challenges, Shevchenko emphasized that he does not plan to pause his 'Body Psychology' project, stating: 'I thought the army would force me to put the project on hold… No. Body Psychology continues to work.'
Thus, Dmytro Shevchenko is maintaining an active lifestyle, balancing military service with the growth of his initiative. This reflects his dedication both to his country and his professional pursuits. His decision to enlist highlights personal responsibility in challenging times and underscores the importance of national security. It also illustrates the growing civic engagement in Ukraine's defense, a significant trend in contemporary Ukrainian society.
