France is considering sending troops to Ukraine: what is known about plans for 2026

Франція вивчає можливість відправлення військ в Україну: останні новини на 2026 рік.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Land Forces, Pierre Schill, stated that French troops are 'ready to deploy forces as part of security guarantees, if necessary, in favor of Ukraine.' This statement was made at a meeting of the National Assembly's Defense Commission and indicates Paris's readiness to assist Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia.

France is preparing for a 'year of coalitions' in 2026, which involves a more active participation of the country in international conflicts. During the Orion 26 exercises, new concepts for joint force application among different types of troops and allies will be tested, including the possible deployment in Ukraine.

France takes the Russian threat seriously, which includes not only military actions but also cyber operations, propaganda, and energy. The country is preparing to strengthen its defense capabilities as part of the ARF 2026 initiative, which will be key for European defense.

Back in July, former Chief of Staff Thierry Bukar warned about the threat that Russia poses to France, which confirms the need to mobilize military resources to protect the country.

In light of Pierre Schill's statements and preparations for the 'year of coalitions', it can be understood that France takes the situation in Ukraine seriously and is ready to support the country if necessary. The increase in defense readiness and participation in international exercises indicate Paris's active course towards strengthening its defense capabilities in the context of the threat from Russia.
