22-year-old footballer of Scunthorpe United, Jonathan Gdgoshe, became a victim of a knife attack on a train in Cambridgeshire. This tragedy occurred during the train ride from Doncaster to London King's Cross. The assailant, 32-year-old Anthony Williams, injured 11 people during a 10-15 minute attack that was halted by armed police at Huntingdon station. Fortunately, Gdgoshe was able to successfully undergo surgery and recover from the bicep injury.


During the match against Iceland, the Ukrainian national football team achieved a victory of 5:3, but the next match against Azerbaijan ended in a draw of 1:1. The result of the game against France was a loss of 0:2, but the fans demonstrated their support for the Ukrainian team by unfurling a banner reading 'Fortress of Europe'.
