President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Outlines G7 and Ramstein Summit Outcomes

During a meeting of the contact group in the Ramstein format, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conveyed the stance of G7 leaders on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. The G7 summit, held in France, saw leaders emphasize the urgency of resolving the conflict. Zelenskyy stressed that

“Putin is not stopping the war, so pressure must be increased.”

He further noted, “Ukraine has sufficiently strong tools to compel Russia to move toward a situation where diplomacy becomes the only option.”

Discussions also focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. Of the $5.5 billion in aid that Ukraine will receive in April 2026, $4 billion is allocated for the development of its air defense system. Zelenskyy stated that

“today, the Ukrainian army is the strongest in Europe, capable of deterring and resisting full-scale aggression over the long term.”

Additionally, a technology integration agreement between Ukraine and Germany was discussed, which Zelenskyy described as a significant joint step. “Ukraine and Germany are taking an important collaborative step,” the Ukrainian president remarked.

Separately, Russia launched a drone strike on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, which Zelenskyy called “an attack on such sites constituting a crime against humanity.” He also reported that Russia is facing fuel shortages and declining budget revenues, while Ukrainian long-range strikes are disrupting Russian military logistics.

International Support for Ukraine

The Ramstein meeting thus served as a crucial platform for discussing further steps to support Ukraine, underscoring the need for sustained pressure on Russia to end the war.

Both the Ramstein gathering and the G7 summit highlight the international community’s backing for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. The focus on boosting defense capabilities reflects partners’ commitment to regional security. Meanwhile, diplomatic pressure on Russia remains a key element of the strategy, pointing to the importance of continued international coordination in resolving the conflict.

As the situation escalates, the international community continues to rally around Ukraine. In light of recent attacks, such as the drone strike on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Macron has called for increased pressure on Russia during the G7 discussions, emphasizing the need for a united front to address the ongoing conflict and bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities.
