Support for Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure
During a meeting of the Energy Ramstein group, partners from the G7+ coalition agreed on a substantial package of financial and technical aid for Ukraine's energy system. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kubela announced the results of the meeting. This collective support comes as Ukraine faces a severe energy crisis, exacerbated by massive Russian attacks on its power infrastructure on January 24. The international community is mobilizing to help Ukraine withstand these assaults on its critical national systems.
Financial Pledges from G7+ Countries
The United States is providing the largest single contribution, pledging over $400 million. Germany will allocate 60 million euros, while the United Kingdom and the Netherlands are each contributing 23 million euros. Italy is committing an immediate 10 million euros and has budgeted an additional 50 million euros for 2026.
The collaboration will focus on several key priorities:
- Expanding decentralized power generation to ensure cities have heat and water;
- Replenishing the National Reserve of mobile equipment;
- Advancing a Ukrainian initiative to create a bank of critical equipment;
- Further strengthening the physical protection of energy facilities.
