Russia has begun active strikes on Ukraine's gas infrastructure after stopping the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory on January 1, 2025. Expert Viktor Kurtev noted that previously, Russia avoided attacks on Ukraine's gas transport systems due to existing transit, but circumstances changed after this contract ended.
'They didn't do this before, because we had transit. But since January 1 of this year, we have no transit,' said the expert.
As a result of two attacks on Ukraine's gas infrastructure, the country has already lost about 60% of its own gas production. The well-known expert urged the Ukrainian authorities to urgently seek funds to purchase gas in Europe to avoid negative consequences before winter arrives and protect strategic facilities from possible attacks.
'If we all falter and act incorrectly, there can be very serious consequences in terms of gas,' warned the expert.
Russia is actively attacking Ukraine's gas infrastructure after stopping gas transit through the country's territory since the beginning of 2025. This has led to serious losses for Ukraine, and experts warn of possible consequences during the winter period. The country will need to look for ways to compensate for losses and protect important gas infrastructure facilities.
