Psychologist of the State Emergency Service: heroines without weapons
Svitlana Bragary is a psychologist of the State Emergency Service in Kryvyi Rih, who has been providing emergency psychological assistance to people in dangerous situations or victims of Russian strikes for 20 years.
One difficult night after a missile strike on a hotel in the center of Kryvyi Rih, rescuers pulled out a girl who was physically unharmed but suffered greatly psychologically. Svitlana, helping her to overcome the shock, said: 'I will not leave you alone. I care about you!'
“A psychologist of the State Emergency Service is someone who helps restore calm not only to the victims but also emotional balance to the rescuers,” says Svitlana.
Svitlana supports the mental state of rescuers, conducts preventive classes, works with the wounded in hospitals, and helps those evacuated from frontline territories.
The greatest support she receives is from her family, colleagues, and simple things that bring her back to normal life. She is most inspired by the sincere words of gratitude from those she has helped, even if it was just a short conversation or her presence beside them.
In the work of a State Emergency Service psychologist, important psychological support is provided to both the victims and the rescuers, who are helped not only physically but also emotionally in difficult moments.
