Imagine a fairy tale about faith, love, and the light that always leads home. This is the story told in the tale 'The Lantern that Never Goes Out'. The main character, a girl named Solomiika, lights her Lantern every evening so that her police-volunteer father can find his way home. In this Lantern lives a spark of fatherly love.
The author of this enchanting story is Olha Buzuluk, who works as the head of the communication sector of the police in the Volyn region. The tale was voiced by Inna Zhelchik, who is part of the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Inna Zhelchik is recognized every day for her extraordinary courage and dedication to her work – she works on the front lines, where it is the most dangerous. In June 2025, Inna and her colleague were injured as a result of shelling in Kyiv. Three rescuers did not survive, others were wounded. This event became a trial for all parties involved.
This wonderful story about the Lantern is just one of 10 stories included in the 'Voices of Childhood' project. Each of them tells of the light, love, and memory that adults safeguard for future generations even in times of war. And this is incredibly important for our society.
