Zelensky discussed with von der Leyen the EU report and energy support for Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. They discussed Ukraine's membership in the European Union. Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel: 'We discussed Ukraine's progress on the path to EU membership, and there are every reason to hope for a positive result for us.'



«Ursula shared about the coordination with different institutions and countries and the funds that will be directed to help our energy sector. There may be significant contributions, and we will work on increasing them,» Zelensky noted.


Zelensky also informed that in the conversation with von der Leyen, the energy support for Ukraine was discussed. It is planned to start working on the implementation of agreements this week. They also agreed on further contacts and joint steps.



Destruction of Ukraine's gas infrastructure


In particular, the tabloid Bild reported that Russian strikes led to the destruction of up to 60% of Ukraine's gas infrastructure. Occupiers systematically bomb coal power plants, gas storage facilities, and substations to ensure that Ukraine could freeze this winter.


The meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen was devoted to discussing Ukraine's EU membership and the energy support for the country. The presidents agreed on implementing agreements this week and further joint steps aimed at supporting Ukraine.
