Specifications of Russia's New 'Izdeliye-30' Cruise Missile

Ukraine's Defence Intelligence (GUR) has published a detailed analysis of a new Russian cruise missile, the 'Izdeliye-30'. The data, released on the War&Sanctions portal, indicates the missile has a wingspan of approximately three meters, carries an 800 kg warhead, and has a minimum operational range of 1,500 km. The first confirmed uses of this weapon against Ukraine occurred in late 2023. This disclosure provides crucial technical intelligence for Ukraine's allies and defense analysts.

Manufacturing and Foreign Components

The missile is identified as a product of the OKB 'Zvezda' design bureau, part of the 'Tactical Missiles Corporation'. Key findings include:

  • Its pneumatic system's pyrovalve is identical to that used in the Kh-35U missile.
  • The aircraft catapult launcher is similar to the AKU-5M system used for Kh-101, Kh-55, and Kh-555 missiles.
  • The satellite navigation system is built with components from two Russian firms.

This navigation system incorporates the 'Kometa-M12' jamming-protected satellite signal receiver, produced by 'VNIIR-Progress', and a receiver-computer unit developed by 'KB NAVIS' based on the NAVIS NR9 receiver. A coupling unit from 'ANPP TEMP-AVIA', known for flight controllers for guided bombs, integrates these systems.

Critically, all three components of the 'Izdeliye-30' navigation system contain parts manufactured in the United States, Switzerland, China, and the Netherlands. In contrast, the warhead's electronic control unit, the BUBS-30, uses Russian-made components. Its key element is a 32-bit ARM architecture microcontroller, the 1986VE1AT, produced by the Russian company 'PKK Milandr'.

The data released by Ukraine's Defence Intelligence underscores the critical need to monitor new military technologies deployed in modern conflicts.

This information points to the increasing sophistication and technological advancement in Russian weapons development, presenting new challenges for Ukrainian defense. Given the missile's confirmed battlefield use, it is vital for Ukraine to continue analyzing and adapting its military strategies to counter emerging threats.
