HAMAS announced on Friday that it is ready to accept specific provisions of President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for ending the war in the Gaza Strip. This includes the release of hostages and the transfer of administrative control over the enclave. This was reported by Reuters.
At the same time, the movement emphasized that other conditions remain subject to further negotiations.
What HAMAS has agreed to in the pursuit of ending the war
According to the text of the statement that the Reuters agency has familiarized itself with, HAMAS acknowledged the positive efforts of "Arab, Islamic, and international organizations," as well as Trump, who called for an immediate ceasefire, hostage exchange, and access for humanitarian aid.
The organization confirmed its agreement to "release all occupation prisoners – both living and those who have died – according to the exchange formula contained in President Trump's proposal, provided the necessary field conditions for the exchange are met." However, it emphasized that it is ready to immediately start negotiations through intermediaries to clarify details.
Notably, in HAMAS's response, it did not state whether the movement is ready to agree to disarmament – one of the key demands of Israel and the USA, which it had previously rejected. This issue may become the main obstacle to implementing the American plan.
Trump's ultimatum for HAMAS
The U.S. President gave the Palestinian group time until Sunday to determine its final position. At the same time, he did not specify whether the conditions would be subject to negotiation, which HAMAS insists on.
The movement's statement was the first official signal of readiness to discuss Washington's initiative. However, its implementation will directly depend on whether the parties agree on key points.
