HAMAS released native of Donetsk Maxim Kharkin: details of the exchange

Звільнення Максима Харкіна з Донецька: подробиці обміну з ХАМАСом
The Palestinian group HAMAS has released hostage Maxim Kharkin as part of a peace agreement with Israel. The man was born in Ukrainian Donetsk but had long been living in Israel at the time of his capture.

"After two painful years of uncertainty, anxiety, and hope, Maxim has returned to us. We thank the people of Israel for their endless support, the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, and the security forces who fought day and night to bring Maxim and the rest of our loved ones home. Our Maxim is strong, he has endured a difficult period in inhumane conditions and once again showed us all how much physical and mental strength he has. From now on, he begins the road to recovery, love, and rehabilitation."
- says the Kharkin family.

According to Maariv, Maxim's mother and daughter hold Russian citizenship. After confirming the fact of captivity, the family also issued a Russian passport hoping for his swift release.

The story of Maxim Kharkin

Maxim moved to Israel with his mother, has a younger brother, a common-law wife, and a four-year-old daughter. HAMAS captured him exclusively during the attack on the festival in 2023. His friend and wife were later found dead.

At the summit in Egypt, the US president, along with representatives of three countries, signed an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza, calling this agreement the most complicated. Trump believes that the war in Gaza has come to an end and the region will begin to normalize.

After two years of absence, Maxim Kharkin returned home thanks to an agreement between HAMAS and Israel. His family expressed gratitude for the support and now welcomes Maxim on his path to recovery and rehabilitation.
