Kharkiv Under Fire: June 2023 Attack Timeline
Between June 19 and June 28, 2023, the city of Kharkiv endured a series of Russian attacks that caused widespread destruction, fatalities, and injuries—including among State Emergency Service (SES) personnel. In the early hours of June 19, Russian forces used guided aerial bombs (KABs) to strike the Kholodnohirskyi district. Reports of the assault first emerged at 3:49 a.m., and by 4:33 a.m., Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that roughly 15 private homes and a warehouse had been damaged. That number later climbed to over 40 affected buildings.
The following day, June 20, another KAB attack hit the same district, injuring five people. During firefighting operations, a subsequent Russian shelling killed five SES workers and wounded at least five more.
On June 21, Russian forces targeted Kharkiv again, this time striking a 12-story residential building in the Kyivskyi district with a Molniya drone. The drone struck between the top two floors. Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported no immediate casualties, with damage assessments ongoing.
On June 28, Russian occupiers launched a missile attack on the Osnovianskyi district. No casualties were initially reported, and authorities continued to evaluate the impact.
