CSU proposals on migration policy
The Christian Social Union (CSU) party in Germany proposes tightening migration policy for refugees from Ukraine and Syria. According to new initiatives, Ukrainian men who may be fit for service will be asked to return to Ukraine to contribute to the country's defense. This CSU resolution project will be discussed at the winter faction meeting in Bavaria, led by Alexander Hoffmann, head of the CSU's state group in the Bundestag.
New regulations for asylum seekers
Under the new rules, all asylum seekers, starting with Ukrainians who arrived after April 2025, will have to use their assets to cover the costs of staying in Germany. Additionally, the CSU plans to conduct a large-scale deportation operation regarding Syrian refugees and other groups, including Afghans. It is important to note that the civil war in Syria has ended, and the country is in the rebuilding phase. Consequently, the deportation of those who do not leave voluntarily should begin as soon as possible.
The party believes that given the end of the conflict, measures must be taken to facilitate the return of refugees. The Polish government has also prepared a bill regarding Ukrainian refugees that will take effect after March 4, 2026. These proposals spark discussions about the future of refugees in Germany and their rights.
The CSU proposals to strengthen migration policy could significantly impact the lives of thousands of refugees seeking asylum in Germany. In particular, the return of men fit for service to Ukraine is an important aspect that could spark significant discussions in society. At the same time, bills in Poland indicate a general trend in the region towards reviewing policies concerning refugees, suggesting potential changes in international relations and humanitarian approaches to migration.
