JD Vance addresses claims about Iranian uranium

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has stated that seizing enriched Iranian uranium is not currently part of America’s strategy. He dismissed reports suggesting otherwise, calling them unfounded. According to Vance, the matter has never been on the administration’s agenda, and he is unaware of where such rumors originated. He remarked:

“That is not our plan at this time. It never was. I have seen some reports about it, but I have no idea where they came from.” — JD Vance

He also noted that Iranian officials have not raised the issue, adding that, in his view, 'the Iranians would not be particularly happy about it.'

Iran’s terms for a peace agreement

Tehran has formally submitted a list of demands to Washington as conditions for a peace deal. These include:

  • lifting sanctions
  • unfreezing assets
  • ending the maritime blockade
  • withdrawing U.S. troops from the region
  • paying reparations

This peace proposal was relayed through Pakistan, which acted as an intermediary between the Iranian and U.S. governments.

In addition, Iran has expressed willingness to transfer its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to Russia. Under the terms put forward by Tehran, this would involve handing over approximately 400 kilograms of enriched uranium. Iran is also open to a long-term freeze of its nuclear program rather than its complete dismantlement. JD Vance reiterated that this is not part of the current U.S. administration’s plans, noting that 'the president is not particularly keen on it either.'

Overall, Vance’s remarks reflect the U.S. stance on Iran’s nuclear activities and its relationship with Russia. At the same time, Iran’s peace plan—which calls for sanctions relief and the transfer of uranium—could have significant implications for regional security and international diplomacy. Observers note that the situation remains tense and warrants close monitoring by the global community, as each new development may carry far-reaching consequences.

As the situation evolves, understanding the full scope of Iran's demands becomes crucial.
