Iran's IRGC Claims Strikes on Amazon and Oracle, Issues New Threats to Tech Giants

Іранська РДПК заявляє про атаки на великі технологічні компанії, погрожуючи новими діями.

Data Center Assaults

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated it carried out attacks on an Amazon cloud computing center in Bahrain and an Oracle data processing facility in Dubai. The IRGC claims these operations were retaliation for the killings of Iranian officials. According to the group, the Amazon-linked facility, allegedly used for espionage and terrorist technologies, was completely destroyed. However, no official evidence confirming the success of these attacks has yet been provided.

Amazon has confirmed it is working with local authorities to ensure staff safety. In light of the events, Amazon is advising its customers to move operational data out of the affected regions. These incidents occur amid heightened regional tensions. Simultaneously, reports have emerged that Kamal Kharrazi, a senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, was severely wounded and his wife killed in an airstrike in Tehran. Iranian officials have blamed the United States and Israel for the assault.

Escalating Threats and Conflict

The IRGC has also warned that American corporations in the information technology and artificial intelligence sectors are now in its crosshairs. The published list of potential targets includes:

  • Apple
  • Microsoft
  • Google
  • Meta
  • Intel
  • Tesla
  • Boeing

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that a special transit control protocol is being developed in cooperation with Oman. This follows Tehran's stated intention to establish long-term surveillance over shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian side claims these measures are solely aimed at safety and improving vessel services, not at imposing restrictions.

These events underscore the escalating regional tensions linked to the conflict between Iran and the United States and its allies. Attacks on foreign companies could have serious repercussions for international business operations in the area and impact the security of technological infrastructure. Meanwhile, Iran's plans to control transit through the Strait of Hormuz could alter the dynamics of trade and shipping in this critical waterway, which is vital to the global economy.
In a related development, the ongoing hostilities have significantly impacted Iran's industrial capabilities, as evidenced by the recent Israeli airstrikes that have disrupted operations within the Iranian steel sector. These strikes have halted production at key plants, illustrating the broader implications of military actions in the region.
