An Extra 2 Billion Hryvnias Allocated by Ukraine’s Cabinet for Housing Repairs: Who Qualifies

Уряд України виділив додаткові кошти на ремонт житла: хто може отримати підтримку.

New Funding Injection for the eRecovery Program

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has decided to channel an additional 2 billion hryvnias into the eRecovery initiative. These funds are meant to compensate owners of damaged homes amid the ongoing Russian Federation aggression. By late April 2023, the shortfall for already approved payments had exceeded 500 million hryvnias. Across the country, more than 3 million households have been damaged, accounting for roughly 14% of the total housing stock. This fresh allocation will allow another 20,000 families to receive compensation.

Program Funding for 2026

The state budget for 2026 had originally set aside 1.2 billion hryvnias for the eRecovery program. Since the program’s launch, total applications have surpassed 212,000, with over 139,000 families already receiving state aid worth a combined 13.5 billion hryvnias. The average payout for minor repairs is around 70,100 hryvnias, while for full-scale restoration it reaches 341,600 hryvnias.

The newly allocated repair funds are split into two categories:

  • Category A repairs receive 1.3 billion hryvnias, covering payouts of up to 200,000 hryvnias per property for fixing minor damage.
  • Category B repairs get 0.7 billion hryvnias, offering compensation of up to 350,000 hryvnias for apartments and up to 500,000 hryvnias for private houses in cases of more severe damage.

This government move marks a critical step in rebuilding infrastructure and supporting the war-affected population. The eRecovery program aims not only to reimburse losses but also to improve living conditions for many Ukrainian families, a pressing need amid the current crisis. Ensuring timely and sufficient funding remains essential to meet the needs of affected citizens.

In light of the recent funding boost, it is essential to understand how this initiative aligns with the broader goals of the eRecovery program.
