Kyiv Resident Faces Up to 12 Years in Prison for Child Pornography Crimes via Telegram

Киянин може отримати до 12 років ув'язнення за розповсюдження дитячої порнографії через месенджер.

Suspected Crimes Against Minors

A 53-year-old man from Kyiv has been formally notified of suspicion under the supervision of juvenile prosecutors from the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office. The charges involve obtaining access to, purchasing, storing, producing, and distributing child pornography. According to investigators, the suspect used the Telegram messenger to communicate with underage girls, asking them to send pornographic photos and videos in exchange for money.

Additionally, the man reportedly posted pornographic content publicly on his Instagram profile. Authorities are currently working to determine the number of child victims involved in this case. Under Article 301-1, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the suspect could face up to 12 years in prison, along with a ban from holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years.

Pre-Trial Investigation Concludes in Separate Case

In a related development, the pre-trial investigation has been completed into the rape of a 14-year-old girl by her stepfather in the Vinnytsia region. The case involves a family from the Khmilnyk district, where the accused lived with his common-law wife and her two children: a daughter and a younger son. It was revealed that the man subjected the victim to psychological pressure, threatening to kick her out of the house or create unbearable living conditions for her family. The girl remained silent until March, when she discovered she was pregnant.

These cases highlight the serious issue of violence against children in Ukraine, which has raised public concern. It is crucial for law enforcement not only to investigate such incidents but also to actively work on preventing crimes against minors. An appropriate legal response to these offenses can be an important step toward protecting children and ensuring their safety in society.

The alarming trend of child abuse in Kyiv continues, as highlighted by another recent case involving a man who allegedly abused his five young relatives. This incident further underscores the urgent need for community awareness and legal action against such heinous acts.
