Kyiv Under Fire: June 2nd Assault

A Russian missile strike on Kyiv on June 2nd has left three people dead and 35 injured, including three children. The attack caused extensive damage to residential buildings and infrastructure across eight districts of the Ukrainian capital.

Districts Hit Hard

In the Podilskyi district, a nine-story residential building was struck, partially destroying its upper floors and wounding five people. Fires also broke out in the same area:

  • Vehicles in an open area;
  • A four-story building on the grounds of an educational institution;
  • Cars and a warehouse at a municipal facility.

The Obolonskyi district also saw damage, with a construction site shed catching fire. In Shevchenkivskyi district, the attack partially damaged the facade and roof of a nine-story apartment block. In Darnytskyi district, a fire was reported at a gas station.

Solomyanskyi district suffered severe impacts: a fire broke out in a 16th-floor apartment of a 20-story residential tower, as well as in a private home. Additionally, a blaze erupted on the ninth floor of a 24-story building, where rescuers freed one trapped man.

In Holosiivskyi district, the attack sparked a fire at a market area and destroyed the second and third floors of a building. Multiple vehicles, office spaces, small retail kiosks, and commercial structures were set ablaze, while a business center was both burned and partially collapsed.

Sviatoshynskyi district reported damage to the facade and windows of a five-story apartment building and minor roof damage to a nine-story one. In Pecherskyi district, slight damage was noted at an unfinished construction site.

Emergency crews and all relevant services are currently working at the impact sites. This information is being updated as the situation evolves.

This bombardment of Kyiv's districts underscores the escalating military hostilities in Ukraine. The destruction of infrastructure and homes highlights the severe toll on civilians, who have endured the conflict for an extended period. Authorities and emergency services continue to operate on the ground, providing aid to the injured and clearing debris from the attack.

The recent missile strike on Kyiv has drawn attention to the escalating violence in the region. Just days earlier, a similar attack resulted in nearly 300 structures being damaged and 87 people injured. This alarming trend highlights the ongoing threat to civilians and infrastructure in the capital.
