Kyiv Announces Roadwork and Traffic Restrictions for March 24-25, 2026

Київ вводить обмеження на рух через ремонтні роботи 24-25 березня 2026 року.

Roadwork Scheduled in Kyiv

Kyiv's municipal road service, 'Kyivavtodor', has announced partial traffic restrictions for March 24 and 25, 2026, in the Podilskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts. These planned works are part of the city's annual post-winter road maintenance. Specifically, on March 24 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, crews will be repairing the road surface at the following locations:

  • Nyzhniy Val Street, on the section from Naberezhno-Khreshchatyska Street to Hlybochytska Street;
  • Mezhyhirska Street, from Obolonska Street to Naberezhno-Luhova Street.

On March 25, work will continue on Berdychivska Street, affecting traffic in both directions. Restrictions will be partial and implemented in stages. The schedule is subject to change in case of adverse weather conditions. Additionally, traffic on several bridges and overpasses in the capital will be partially restricted until March 25. Bridge repair work will be carried out by the municipal enterprise 'Kyivavtoavtoshliakhmist'.

Cost and Scope of Repair Work

Restoring Ukraine's roads after winter is estimated to require up to 50 billion hryvnias. The main work on international highways is planned for completion by June, with 95-98% of it involving pothole repair. The average cost for repairing one square meter is 1.2 thousand hryvnias. Following a technical meeting in early March 2026, it was confirmed that the Paton Bridge can remain in operation provided weight and traffic restrictions are observed. The Paton Bridge is a locally significant architectural monument, and its reconstruction is deemed necessary for both safety and heritage preservation.

The planned roadworks in Kyiv are part of a nationwide program to restore infrastructure following the winter season. Given the scale of required repairs, especially on key international routes, drivers should anticipate potential delays and plan their routes accordingly. The concurrent focus on bridge reconstruction, including the historic Paton Bridge, highlights the dual priorities of ensuring traffic safety and preserving the city's architectural legacy.

As the city prepares for significant roadwork over the weekend, it's essential to be aware of ongoing traffic management efforts across Kyiv. In particular, traffic restrictions on key bridges earlier this month, including emergency repairs on the Paton Bridge, highlight the city's commitment to maintaining safe travel conditions for all residents.
