Heat Restoration Efforts Underway in Kyiv
Emergency crews are working around the clock in Kyiv to repair the city's heating systems following Russian missile strikes. More than 160 teams are currently deployed to restore heat to over 3,200 multi-story residential buildings, while water supply is also being gradually reinstated. These strikes are part of a sustained campaign targeting Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure as winter sets in.
The situation within the capital's energy grid remains severe, particularly after the latest mass attack. The emergency brigades, which include municipal workers, specialists from other regions, and employees of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), are working non-stop. This is a nationwide collaborative effort focused on returning heat and water to Kyiv residents' homes as swiftly as possible. The sewerage system is currently operating normally.
Composition of Repair Brigades
According to reports, additional crews have been brought in to assist with restoring the heating supply. This includes 35 teams from Ukrzaliznytsia and 20 from the Kyiv region. Furthermore, over 25 brigades have arrived from Vinnytsia, Rivne, Volyn, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Zakarpattia regions.
Commenting on the situation, Oleksiy Kuleba expressed gratitude to everyone working without rest under extremely difficult conditions so that Kyiv residents can feel warmth in their homes again.
Restoring Kyiv's heating is critically important for ensuring resident comfort during winter, especially amid the ongoing energy crisis caused by the attacks. The coordinated actions of municipal services and volunteers from other regions highlight the importance of national unity and mutual aid for a country facing the challenges of war. This process demonstrates not just technical capability, but also the profound social solidarity of Ukrainians during difficult times.
