Kyivmetrobud must pay UAH 3.7 billion in damages

The capital is claiming losses for the metro in Vynogradar. The city authorities and the municipal enterprise 'Kyiv Metro' are demanding compensation for property damage from the joint-stock company 'Kyivmetrobud' for failing to meet the terms of the contract for the construction of the metro in Vynogradar. According to the provided data, construction work at the site was carried out from 2018 to 2023.

The total amount of damages caused by 'Kyivmetrobud' amounts to UAH 2,300,549,029.80. In addition, the penalty for violation of the construction deadlines amounts to UAH 1,366,632,585.87.

JSC 'Kyivmetrobud' provided completed work acts worth UAH 44.13 million, but this does not cover the significant financial obligations that arose as a result of the breach of the contract. On November 9, 2023, KP 'Kyiv Metro' decided to terminate the contract with 'Kyivmetrobud'. In connection with these events, on May 14, 2024, proceedings No. 910/5779/24 were opened.

Plans for 2024

In 2024, the city authorities plan to identify a new contractor to continue the construction of the 'Mostytska' station. The completion of work at the station is scheduled for 2026, and the opening - no earlier than 2027. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko had previously promised to launch a new station in 2026, but delays in construction may affect these timelines.

The situation with 'Kyivmetrobud' reflects problems in the construction of infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly in the context of meeting deadlines and fulfilling contractual obligations. The lack of progress on the 'Mostytska' station may lead to delays in the development of the Kyiv metro, which is an important element of the capital's transport infrastructure.

The city authorities are striving to find a new contractor to ensure the timely completion of the project, highlighting the need for effective management of construction processes in the face of modern challenges.
