Chinese Plan for Restructuring International Trade

Beijing is implementing a large-scale plan to integrate its industrial sector into the economies of the European Union, the Persian Gulf, Africa, and Latin America. As part of this strategy, China is speeding up the signing of 20 new trade agreements and introducing zero tariffs for 53 African countries. Partners are also offered digital infrastructure and customs systems based on artificial intelligence. These steps are aimed at creating alternative trade corridors and logistics chains, which is especially relevant in the current geopolitical situation.

An analysis of more than 2000 documents from Peking University and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences shows China's active efforts to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Despite its successes, the country faces challenges, including a trade surplus of 1.2 trillion dollars. In this context, the international community expects China not only to increase exports but also to boost domestic consumption and imports.

Position on the International Stage

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in the context of the Ukrainian conflict, urged European countries to actively participate in peace negotiations and to resume direct dialogue with Russia. At a meeting with Ukrainian colleague Andrei Sibiga, he confirmed Beijing's position on supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity. Large-scale trade and cooperation in strategic sectors remain important factors for Russia's economic stability in the face of sanctions pressure.

The U.S. permanent representative to NATO, Matthew Vitek, criticized Beijing's actions at the Munich Security Conference in 2026, highlighting the complexity of the international situation surrounding China's strategy.

Thus, China is implementing comprehensive approaches in global trade, striving to strengthen its global positions despite challenges and criticism. These initiatives have the potential to change the economic dynamics in entire regions, opening new opportunities for cooperation. The international community is closely monitoring these processes, assessing them in the context of global challenges such as the situation in Ukraine and the overall tension in relations between major powers.
