DEEP Robotics Unveils the Lynx M20S

On June 25 at 3:31 PM, DEEP Robotics introduced the Lynx M20S, a robot built for industrial tasks in harsh environments. It can operate efficiently in extreme temperatures and navigate a wide range of obstacles. As the world’s first wheeled-legged robot designed specifically for challenging field applications, the Lynx M20S is suited for energy inspections, emergency response, logistics, and scientific research.

Lynx M20S Technical Specifications

The Lynx M20S boasts impressive capabilities for demanding conditions. It can cross icy rivers up to 80 centimeters deep, function in temperatures as low as -30°C, and climb steep slopes of up to 45 degrees. The robot is also capable of operating at altitudes reaching 5,177 meters (nearly 17,000 feet). Weighing 35 kilograms with a ground clearance of 50 cm, it can surmount obstacles up to 80 cm high and climb stairs with steps up to 25 cm.

Key technical details of the Lynx M20S include:

  • Payload capacity: 15 kilograms
  • Maximum load: 50 kilograms
  • Runtime without payload: up to 3 hours
  • Range without payload: up to 15 kilometers
  • Runtime with 15 kg payload: up to 2.5 hours
  • Range with payload: up to 12 kilometers
  • Maximum speed: up to 5 m/s (in laboratory conditions)
  • Operating speed: 2 m/s

The Lynx M20S is equipped with two 96-line LiDAR sensors, providing a 360 by 90-degree field of view. It carries an IP66 protection rating and operates in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C. DEEP Robotics has also improved battery life by 17 to 67 percent per charge, boosting the robot’s field efficiency.

Alongside the Lynx M20S, the R-Noid robot from the American company Robot.com deserves mention. Designed to handle repetitive, labor-intensive tasks across various industries, the R-Noid has a deployment timeline of eight to twelve weeks. Robot.com offers five solution categories, including:

  • Restaurant assistant
  • Packer
  • Picker
  • Assembly operator
  • Administrator
The adoption of robots like the Lynx M20S and R-Noid highlights automation’s growing role in industrial processes.

These technologies can significantly enhance task efficiency and safety in extreme conditions, making them vital tools for modern industry. The emergence of new robotics solutions also signals active innovation, reflecting market demand for automation and optimized production workflows.

As the Lynx M20S demonstrates its capabilities in extreme conditions, it's worth noting how other robotic innovations, such as the Bear-Paw Robot, are also making strides in Arctic environments. These advancements not only highlight the growing role of robotics in challenging terrains but also pave the way for future applications in various industries.
