In Kyiv, the cost of the fare in public transport has been determined - it amounts to 44 UAH. At the same time, the new tariff may be set within the next two or three months. This is reported by Suspilne.
Cost of public transport in Kyiv: what affects the tariff
The KMDA explains that the current tariff is significantly lower than economically justified. The following components form it:
-
salary of employees;
-
fuel and lubricants;
-
electricity;
-
spare parts and maintenance;
-
vehicle depreciation.
According to the head of the Transport Infrastructure Department of the KMDA, Serhiy Pidgayny, the final cost has not yet been determined, but the city does not plan to exceed the national average level.
He noted: «This tariff is only a reduction of the burden on the budget… so that there is not a strong burden on Kyiv residents».
Increase in fare: what options are being considered
In the capital, new calculations are already being worked on. Among the possible scenarios:
-
increase to 25–30 UAH with a margin for the future;
-
moderate option - about 20 UAH.
The city is also planning to introduce a transfer ticket that will be valid for 1.5 hours and to increase the energy efficiency of transport.
Separately, they are considering attracting loans from international financial organizations to update the rolling stock.
Earlier, Mayor Vitali Klitschko instructed to review the tariff. It was last changed in 2018, and currently, it remains one of the lowest in Ukraine. The rising costs of fuel, electricity, and transport maintenance are forcing the city to reconsider the fare.
Earlier, we wrote that the Kyiv city hall began preparations for increasing the cost of public transport fares, as tariffs have not changed since 2018.
