Ukrainian diplomat, former Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Valeriy Chaly urged the Nobel Committee in Norway to refrain from awarding the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025. He believes that in the context of global wars, this could send a negative signal and cause a disaster. Chaly asserts that today is a decisive moment in world history and it is important that the committee's decisions correspond to modern realities.

«Your predecessors were also quite aware of this when they made the right decisions not to award this prize to anyone in years when wars raged,» – emphasized Chaly.

The diplomat notes that all calls for peace at the moment are not yielding results, and the world is facing a critical choice. He urges the Nobel Committee to refrain from awarding the Peace Prize this year, as it would be an important step in preventing a possible disaster for humanity.

Valeriy Chaly's position sparks discussion regarding the Nobel Committee's approach to awarding the Peace Prize, especially in the context of global conflicts and a tense international situation. His call may influence future decisions of the committee and prompt serious justification for the choice of the laureate.
