Disinformation before the Trump-Putin meeting
Before the meeting of US President Donald Trump with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska, the Kremlin launched an active disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the eyes of global public opinion.
The Center for Counteracting Disinformation reported that the main goal of this campaign is to diminish Ukraine's significance during upcoming negotiations by tarnishing the reputation of Ukrainian leaders and supporting the idea that dialogue should only occur between Trump and Putin, ignoring the Ukrainian leadership.
The Russians also began spreading disinformation about the state leadership in Turkey, where meetings between Ukrainian and Russian delegations are taking place.
These manipulations are aimed at weakening Ukraine's support on the international stage and provoking a split in global political processes by accusing Ukraine of 'unwillingness to achieve peace' and spreading the idea of 'Europe's inability to address security issues without Russia's participation.'
The enemy is trying to position Ukraine as an object rather than a subject in the peaceful resolution of the conflict, emphasized the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.
During the preparation for the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska, the Kremlin initiated a wide-ranging disinformation campaign aimed at harming Ukraine and its international reputation to influence the negotiations between the leaders.
