Putin's Video Incident

On March 8, 2026, the Kremlin accidentally published an unedited video of Vladimir Putin's International Women's Day greeting. In the footage, the Russian president was interrupted several times by a throat irritation, which caused difficulties during the recording. Putin coughed for approximately thirty seconds and also asked the film crew to repeat a line.

The raw video spread rapidly online but was subsequently deleted from official platforms and from some media outlets that had managed to publish it. The incident did not go unnoticed. An advisor to Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Serhiy Sternenko, commented on the situation by posting a screenshot from Russian propagandist Lev Vershinin. Sternenko noted that

Internal Kremlin Issues

This case represents another awkward moment for Putin, who has previously been caught in similar situations, such as during a speech in Ashgabat when his microphone was switched off. Furthermore, on the same day, Putin sent a telegram of condolences to the leadership of Iran following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The video incident may point to certain internal problems within the Kremlin, particularly concerning information control and public appearances. The spread of such content highlights the increased scrutiny of the Russian leadership's activities and the heightened interest in how officials react to these situations. In the context of tense international relations and the domestic political climate, such moments can significantly impact the public image and perception of power in Russia. These unscripted glimpses are rare, as the Kremlin typically maintains strict control over the president's public persona.
