Zelensky and Dutch PM Jetten Hold Phone Talks
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Netherlands' Prime Minister Rob Jetten spoke by phone. Their conversation covered a range of significant topics, including:
- the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine;
- how vital air-defence missiles have become;
- the Netherlands' immediate contribution to Ukraine's defence;
- practical steps for the coming winter.
Zelensky gave Jetten an update on the recent Russian strikes against Ukrainian cities and communities, and expressed gratitude for the prime minister's heartfelt sympathy and backing. He noted:
“In practice, Russia is hitting our people every day and does not spare ballistic missiles to shatter lives. Air-defence missiles are our number-one priority.”From there, the two discussed the Netherlands' options for supporting Ukraine now and during the winter months.
The call also covered diplomatic affairs, including last week's meetings in Washington. EU accession for Ukraine was discussed, as was progress toward opening four additional negotiation clusters. Kyiv thanked The Hague for its readiness to work on practical solutions to bolster Ukraine's defensive capabilities and expand bilateral cooperation.
The exchange between the Ukrainian president and the Dutch prime minister reflects how much Ukraine continues to depend on international solidarity while facing ongoing Russian aggression.
