Critical situation in Ukraine's energy system: where the biggest problems with electricity are
The state of energy supply in Ukraine remains tense due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, especially in frontline regions. Chairman of the board of NEC 'Ukrenergo' Vitaliy Zaychenko reported a critical situation in energy infrastructure, noting that the biggest problems are observed in:
- Donetsk region
- Kharkiv region
- Sumy region
- Chernihiv region
These regions remain the most critical due to constant attacks on energy facilities.
'Unfortunately, the situation remains critical in frontline and border regions with Russia. There, the enemy uses all means to attack energy facilities.' — Vitaliy Zaychenko
The situation in these regions complicates repair work, as there is a danger to the repair personnel. In addition, a difficult situation is observed in the Odesa region, which also suffers from constant attacks on energy facilities.
'The situation also continues to be quite difficult in the Odesa region, which is practically constantly under enemy fire on energy facilities.' — Vitaliy Zaychenko
In light of these difficulties, starting from January 3, most regions of Ukraine will be implementing schedules for hourly power outages, which indicates the seriousness of the situation in the energy sector of the country.
The situation in Ukraine's energy infrastructure is a result of a prolonged conflict and attacks on critical facilities, threatening not only the stability of energy supply but also the safety of the population in these regions. The implementation of power outage schedules is a necessary measure that reflects the scale of the problem and the need to adapt to new conditions. The further development of events will depend on the actions of both energy companies and military structures in the regions affected by the attacks.
