The director of the consulting group A95, Serhiy Kuyun, is confident that Ukraine will not lose sunshine in case of stopping the diesel supply from Slovakia. According to him, finding other suppliers will not be a problem, as there is plenty of fuel in the market and competition among them.
'We receive only 10% of monthly diesel supplies from Slovakia. We have all the possibilities to replace this volume with other sources. There is plenty of fuel in the market, and everyone is competing to attract buyers. Slovakia may 'lose' us, but we pay a very good price,' the expert explained.
Problems that may arise if Slovakia stops diesel supply
Serhiy Kuyun also noted that stopping diesel supply from Slovakia could lead to difficulties in finding other buyers for oil refining. He emphasized that Slovakia may increase the supply of non-Russian oil, but then it will lose the opportunity to receive favorable discounts from Russia.
'Earnings from this discount will disappear - and we will lose as buyers. That is, they will not be able to sell this fuel to anyone under favorable conditions,' the expert stressed.
According to the expert, Ukraine has the ability to find other suppliers of diesel fuel if the supply from Slovakia is stopped. As a buyer in this market segment, the country can easily replace this volume with other sources, but it is worth considering the possible difficulties in finding the most favorable conditions in case of changing suppliers.
