Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that 'unnamed officials' in the U.S. Department of Defense allegedly threaten the physical elimination of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
The concerns of the notorious politician were expressed in his interview for the Russian propaganda outlet TASS.
'Washington has gone further than others: some unnamed officials from the Pentagon have essentially threatened to deliver a decapitation strike to the Kremlin. Essentially, this is a threat of physical elimination of the head of the Russian state. If such ideas are indeed being entertained by someone, that person should think very carefully about the possible consequences of such plans,' said Lavrov.

The Russian official did not clarify whose words he meant. It is likely that the minister referred to a September article in Newsweek, where anonymous military sources stated that the response options to the use of Russian nuclear weapons in Ukraine include a 'decapitation strike' that would allow 'killing Putin in the heart of the Kremlin.'
