Liliia Sandulesa Responds to Ivo Bobul's Claims
Ukrainian National Artist Liliia Sandulesa has addressed statements made by her ex-husband, Ivo Bobul, during an interview with Dmytro Gordon. She confirmed that during their marriage, she assumed primary responsibility for the family due to Bobul's health issues, particularly following his kidney surgery.
Sandulesa explained that the majority of domestic and professional duties in the marriage fell to her, including:
- arranging their housing;
- managing household affairs;
- handling professional matters.
She was responsible for apartment renovations, organizing daily life, and booking concerts. While on tour, she also cared for her husband and helped him prepare for performances. According to Sandulesa, these circumstances were not discussed publicly for 25 years.
"I had to do it because we needed to live. We were renting an apartment, doing renovations. Everything—from the design to finding contractors—was on me,"

She added that when one partner is unable to contribute, someone must take command. However, she emphasized that this did not mean she assumed a traditionally masculine role.
Reaction to Ivo Bobul's Statements
In a related development, songwriter Yevhen Rybchynsky publicly criticized Ivo Bobul for calling singers Ani Lorak and Taiisiia Povaliy "beautiful vocalists" in another interview. Sandulesa stated that after years of silence, she could no longer stand aside in the face of what she called "such filth."
This public airing of long-private marital dynamics offers a rare glimpse into the pressures within artistic partnerships. These events highlight the complex relationships between Ukrainian artists, which often play out not only in their professional lives but also personally. Sandulesa's comments may spark further discussion about gender roles in the entertainment industry, responsibility in relationships, and the challenges couples face when one partner has serious health issues. Meanwhile, remarks about other artists underscore that conflicts and public statements are a recurring feature of Ukraine's show business, with potential impacts on reputations and careers.
