Lyman Direction: Russians Increased Artillery Shelling and Drone Usage

In the Lyman direction, assaults by Russian troops are ongoing, who are actively using drones and artillery. Sergeant of the brigade Vasily Denisuk reported an increase in the use of enemy artillery and various approaches to the use of drones. The Lyman direction remains under the responsibility of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave.

Russian troops conduct daily assaults, during which drones, mostly FPV, serve as the main cover for the stormtroopers. The use of strike unmanned aerial vehicles 'Molniyi' has become regular, leading to damage to the positions of Defense Forces. Over the past month, there has been an increase in the use of artillery by the Russians. Poor conditions allowed the Russians to transfer some of their artillery systems to the right bank of the Black Zherebets River, which may impact the tactical situation in the region.

The total number of shells fired by the enemy significantly differs from the figures seen earlier in 2022, 2023, or even in 2024. This indicates an increase in the intensity of shelling and the activation of actions by Russian troops in the Lyman direction.

Conclusions and Consequences

The increase in artillery shelling and active use of drones in the Lyman direction indicates an escalation of the conflict in this region. Such changes may have serious consequences for the Ukrainian defense forces, as the activation of enemy actions complicates positional warfare and creates new challenges for territory defense. In the conditions of constant assaults and growing intensity of fighting, the adaptation of Ukrainian forces to new tactical realities remains important.
