Situation at the Lyman Front
Fighting continues at the Lyman direction, where Russian troops are changing their tactics from direct assaults to attempts to flank the city of Lyman. Ukrainian defenders are actively resisting the enemy, continuing to destroy them using unmanned aerial vehicles. As noted by Rostyslav Yashchishin, head of the communications department of the 63rd separate mechanized brigade, the drone battalion ranked first among military units in October for the number of enemies destroyed.
The enemy, attempting to adapt to new conditions, is using thermoplastic coats for camouflage. The occupiers wear camouflage raincoats during the day and put them on at night during assaults. This indicates that Russian troops are trying to find new ways to conduct military operations, yet Ukrainian defenders continue to respond effectively to these changes.
“Russian genocide continues for us in Lyman, we are smashing a huge number of enemies.”
Rostyslav Yashchishin
Yashchishin also expressed the opinion that the situation will remain approximately the same in November.
“When a drone flies in on them - from the 'Mavic' it's very well seen - all the fluff flies to dust. Such a white snow.”
Rostyslav Yashchishin
Adaptation and Technologies
The situation at the Lyman direction underscores the active adaptation of both sides to the conditions of combat. The change in tactics of the Russian troops to attempts to flank the city may indicate their difficulties in a direct offensive, while Ukrainian defenders continue to demonstrate high effectiveness in using modern technologies such as drones. These factors may influence the further development of the conflict in the region, especially in the context of changing strategies of both sides.
The fierce struggle for control over Lyman remains key in the overall context of the war.
