Survey Results on Greenland

A survey conducted by Reuters/Ipsos showed that only 17% of Americans support Donald Trump's efforts to purchase Greenland. The majority of respondents, specifically 47%, expressed disagreement with this plan, while 35% could not make a decision. Among those surveyed, only 4% support the idea of a military takeover of Greenland, while 71% consider it a very bad idea.

Donald Trump stated that Greenland is strategically necessary for the defense of the USA.

In response to Trump's intentions, Senator J.D. Vance urged European leaders not to ignore these issues. Additionally, Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to hold meetings with the leadership of Denmark and Greenland. In turn, Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa stated that the European Union would support Greenland and Denmark if necessary. The survey was conducted over two days and its results reflect various American views on the country's foreign policy and territorial issues.

Conclusions and Impact on Foreign Policy

These survey results indicate that the majority of Americans do not support aggressive territorial ambitions, which could influence U.S. foreign policy. The reaction of European leaders, particularly from Denmark and the European Union, also emphasizes the importance of international support in matters of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Further diplomatic activity, involving negotiations with Denmark and Greenland, may be key in determining future relations between the USA and these states.
