In November 2023, the average daily volume of grain cargo and meal shipments increased to 169 wagons, which is 25% more than in October. This increase in exports was made possible by higher shipments to Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania, while the volume of shipments to Poland decreased.
Data on cargo shipments
In particular, an average of 48.2 wagons per day were shipped through Ukrainian-Hungarian border crossings. The volume of shipments to Slovakia increased to 21.1 wagons per day, and to Romania - to 11.4 wagons per day. Forecasts for grain harvests in Ukraine are positive. The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) predicts that by 2025, the harvest of grains and oilseeds could reach 81.4 million tons. The forecast for 2024 is 79 million tons, while potential exports in 2025 could reach 49 million tons. Last season, grain exports amounted to 46.7 million tons.
The increase in grain and meal exports in November indicates positive trends in Ukraine's agri-food sector, despite challenging conditions.
This data indicates a recovery and adaptation of the Ukrainian agricultural sector to new export conditions, which is particularly important in the context of current challenges. The increase in shipments to neighboring countries may indicate rising demand for Ukrainian agricultural products, which, in turn, could have a positive impact on the country's economy. Forecasts for future harvests are also encouraging, indicating the possibility of stable exports in the coming years.
