IAEA confirms the danger of shelling at Zaporizhzhia NPP

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that its team, which was located at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, heard shelling in the area and saw black smoke over three adjacent territories. This was reported by the publication 'Glavkom'.

According to IAEA, several shells fell 400 meters from the diesel fuel storage located outside the plant. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries or damage to equipment, but this incident highlights the ongoing threat to nuclear safety, noted IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

Instability at Zaporizhzhia NPP confirmed by Rafael Grossi

Earlier, Rafael Grossi emphasized the unstable security situation at Ukrainian nuclear facilities. According to him, six out of seven 'pillars of nuclear safety' have been violated at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

It is worth noting that Zaporizhzhia NPP operates under conditions of extraordinary threat. Damage to the main water supply source for cooling reactors has already led to a complete loss of external power supply to the plant on nine occasions.

IAEA's confirmation of shelling at Zaporizhzhia NPP indicates serious threats to nuclear safety in the region. The unstable situation described by Rafael Grossi requires urgent attention and measures to prevent further incidents.
