An important outcome of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the United States was the decision to transfer seized Russian assets.
Now there is a mechanism for transferring such assets. This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, as reported by 'TSN'.
'During the visit, the president talked about this in Congress with representatives of both the Republican and Democratic parties. We left, and upon arriving in Kyiv, we saw that this amendment had been returned to the text of the adopted law. It is clear that against the backdrop of 'Patriots' and 45 billion dollars in budget support, few paid attention to this, but this is a super-principled issue,' said the minister.
Kuleba said, 'this is a question of who will pay for the reconstruction of Ukraine, this creates a mechanism.'

'The Attorney General of the United States was present at the meeting with Presidents Biden and Zelensky. This is quite a rare occurrence to be invited to international meetings, but since we have the topic of tribunal and compensation mechanism, the American prosecutor was invited. Now he will legally have the right to decide on the transfer of seized assets. This is not a 'framework', this is a specific mechanism,' said Kuleba.
On December 21, Volodymyr Zelensky met at the White House with US President Joe Biden.
On the same day, Biden signed a memorandum for the allocation of up to $1 billion. The funds will go to providing weapons and defense services to Ukraine and training Ukrainian soldiers. The new military assistance includes, in particular, the Patriot missile defense system.
Zelensky also spoke in Congress. Representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties called the speech of the Ukrainian president inspiring and timely.
