Massive attack on Odesa: the city is left without light, water, and heat

Одеська трагедія: місто опинилося в темряві та без життєво важливих ресурсів

Massive attack by Russia on Odesa

The massive attack by Russia on Odesa took place on December 13, resulting in the city being left without electricity, water, and heat. The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, reported that energy infrastructure facilities were damaged during the attack. Currently, an inspection of these facilities is underway, and it is difficult to specify the exact timeframes for restoring communications.

Situation in the city

There are 428 points of resilience deployed in the city, providing support to residents. Additionally, 16 public wells are in operation, supplying water from generators. By the evening, it is planned to open another 32 points for the distribution of technical water. People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko noted that water is being delivered in tankers for nearly a million Odesa residents. All hospitals in Odesa have switched to generators and are provided with the necessary resources.

Serhiy Lysak: 'All hospitals are operating in normal mode, equipped with generators, water, and fuel. Work has not stopped for a moment.'

The central authorities are keeping the situation under control, and the Prime Minister of Ukraine has held several meetings with the involvement of emergency services, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Energy. The Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that 'at the moment, all events that occurred over the past day have been eliminated. There are no critical consequences.' Serhiy Lysak emphasized that 'our city has suffered the most today.' The situation remains complex, but the authorities are doing everything possible to restore communications and ensure that the population has the necessary resources.

The attack on Odesa reflects the ongoing threats to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, especially in the context of winter when the need for electricity, water, and heat is critically important. The authorities are responding to the situation by organizing assistance points and providing hospitals with the necessary resources, which demonstrates efforts to support the population during emergencies. So far, the situation remains complex, but active actions by the state can help reduce the negative impact on Odesa residents.
