During the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, nearly 3 thousand criminal proceedings were initiated for acts of state treason and collaborationism. Among those who became figures in these cases are even current members of parliament who are currently in pre-trial detention.

'If we talk about the period of the full-scale invasion and the period of de-occupation of certain territories - such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Kherson - it is almost 3 thousand criminal proceedings,' said the communication adviser to the head of the State Bureau of Investigation, Tetiana Sapyán.

According to Sapyán, more than half of the proceedings are already under consideration in courts. Over 1200 cases are being reviewed by judicial authorities, and some already have their sentences.

'We are talking about judges, law enforcement officers who collaborated with the enemy and helped them to settle in the temporarily occupied territories, indicating where pro-Ukrainian citizens or soldiers participating in the ATO are located,' explained the adviser to the head of the SBI.

Certain collaborators have already received punishment, and among the sentences are prison terms of 14-15 years with confiscation of property. Particularly noteworthy is the information about the detention of current members of parliament for state treason, says Tetiana Sapyán.

'There are even several current deputies who went to the territories captured by the enemy and tried to establish contacts with them, and then returned to work in the Verkhovna Rada. They are now in pre-trial detention,' said the adviser to the head of the SBI.

The suspected deputies are accused of state treason, and the court process concerning them is currently ongoing. These criminal proceedings testify to the serious work of law enforcement agencies in bringing to justice those who collaborated with the occupiers in the liberated territories of Ukraine.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are actively combating acts of state treason and collaborationism during the Russian invasion. The court process concerning those who collaborated with the occupiers is an indicator of the seriousness in addressing such crimes and restoring the country's sovereignty.
