Ukraine Recovery Conference URC 2026
A memorandum of cooperation was signed by Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, with the Nordic Environmental Finance Corporation (NEFCO) during the URC 2026 conference in Gdańsk. Under this agreement, over €40 million in grants from Denmark and Sweden will be directed toward projects across eight communities in the Mykolaiv region.
This memorandum represents the first such arrangement between a regional government body and NEFCO in Ukraine. The partnership covers multiple sectors, including:
- energy-efficient infrastructure
- renewable energy
- water supply and wastewater management
- heating systems
- street lighting
- solid household waste management
Projects will be carried out in the cities of Mykolaiv, Voznesensk, Nova Odesa, Pivdennoukrainsk, Pervomaisk, Novyi Buh, Bashtanka, and the Koblivska community.
Exploring Cooperation Opportunities
At the same conference, Kim met with Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone, Denmark's State Secretary for Development Policy, and discussed potential collaboration with representatives from the Korean corporation KIND. In his speech, Kim stressed the need to rebuild infrastructure, stating: 'It’s not just about restoring what was destroyed—it’s about laying the groundwork for modern community development.' He also expressed gratitude to international partners for their support of the Mykolaiv region.
'URC-2026 isn’t just about debating Ukraine’s future—it’s about delivering concrete outcomes. For us, it’s not enough to talk about recovery; we must bring in real resources to develop Mykolaivshchyna. You know, I expected a bit less, but we got a bit more. New contacts, new opportunities. So thanks to everyone, and we keep moving forward.' Vitaliy Kim
This agreement and similar initiatives represent important steps toward improving infrastructure and enhancing quality of life in Mykolaiv region communities, granting access to modern technologies and resources. Collaboration with international partners like NEFCO underscores the growing support for Ukraine’s post-crisis recovery and highlights the significance of investing in sustainable regional development.
In addition to the significant funding for Mykolaiv's infrastructure, Ukraine has secured over €10 billion in various agreements during the URC 2026 conference. This influx of resources underscores the growing international commitment to support the nation’s recovery and development efforts, paving the way for transformative projects across multiple regions.
