Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk reported that the situation in Ukraine's energy system is controlled but complicated due to constant Russian shelling. No regions of the Ukrainian energy system are experiencing emergency outages. However, there are hourly outage schedules in the Chernihiv energy hub.
“No emergency outages are being implemented in any regions. Only the Chernihiv energy hub is operating under hourly outage schedules,” Hrynchuk noted.
The minister explained that energy workers continue to carry out restoration work around the clock, but at the same time, Russian troops are deliberately shelling them, including repair crews. Unfortunately, as a result of the attacks on October 11, two workers were killed, and two others were injured. This situation, according to Hrynchuk, is becoming increasingly frequent.
“Unfortunately, such cases are happening more and more often. The Russians do not hesitate to attack brigades of repairmen and energy workers who are trying to restore supply to consumers as quickly as possible and give Ukrainians access to electric energy,” the minister emphasized.
On the night of October 11-12, attacks by Russian troops on Ukraine's energy and gas transportation infrastructure were recorded. Damages were found in three regions: Donetsk, Odesa, and Chernihiv.
Also on October 11, around 11:00 PM, an attack on a gas station in Novhorod-Siverskyi in Chernihiv region was recorded using an attack drone. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident.
The energy minister reported that the situation in Ukraine's energy system is influenced by Russian shelling. Despite this, no region of the energy system is experiencing emergency outages, although certain energy hubs have hourly outage schedules in place. The increase in shelling leads to the deaths of workers carrying out restoration work, which is becoming increasingly threatening.
