Adaptive Clothing Acquisitions for Injured Military Personnel
Since the start of 2026, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has procured more than 430,000 pieces of adaptive clothing specifically designed for wounded soldiers, as part of the 'Wounded Soldier Kit' initiative. By September 2026, over 70% of the annual clothing requirement had already been fulfilled. These garments are distributed to hospitals and medical facilities located in frontline and border regions, ensuring wounded defenders receive appropriate apparel that supports their medical treatment and comfort.
The Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) managed the purchasing and logistics for this project. The breakdown of acquired adaptive clothing includes:
- 100,000 pairs of summer socks
- 73,650 adaptive tank tops
- 70,000 long-sleeve adaptive shirts
- 65,000 short-sleeve adaptive shirts
- 80,000 pairs of adaptive shorts
- 41,650 adaptive trousers
The Significance of the 'Wounded Soldier Kit' Program
The 'Wounded Soldier Kit' combines adaptive clothing with personal hygiene supplies, provided to all injured members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Adaptive clothing is distributed to wounded personnel across all branches of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. In December 2024, two rounds of testing for the adaptive clothing set were completed. By January 2025, the Ministry of Defense announced that all wounded service members would receive the kit starting from the moment they receive medical care at stabilization points or hospitals. Later that month, the Ukrainian government officially endorsed the Ministry’s initiative to implement this program nationwide.
