Criticism of Musk and Dmitriev
Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski expressed criticism towards Elon Musk and Russian oligarch Dmitriev, accusing them of attempting to divide Europe. In his post on X, published on December 7, 2025, Sikorski noted that these figures seek to dominate and exploit European countries. He emphasized that 92.3% of respondents supported the idea of 'Making Europe Great Again' during a survey, which confirms public sentiment towards European unity.
Relations with the European Union
The conflict between Musk and the European Union escalated due to a fine of 120 million euros imposed on the X platform for violating online content rules. This became an additional factor of tension in relations, leading to a response from the Polish minister. In March 2025, Sikorski had already reacted to Musk's statements about Starlink, stressing the importance of supporting Ukraine. Poland spends about 50 million dollars annually on Starlink services for Ukraine, highlighting the strategic role of these technologies in modern geopolitical relations.
Sikorski also mentioned that the launch of the IRIS² system, costing 10.6 billion euros, planned for the 2030s, will be an important step in strengthening European infrastructure. He added:
If anyone still doubts who this anti-European nonsense about sovereignty serves. This reflects his belief that the actions of Musk and Dmitriev are aimed at undermining European unity.
Sikorski's statements and the events occurring around the X platform highlight the growing tension between tech giants and European states trying to protect their interests. Given the plans for the launch of the IRIS² system, Europe seeks to strengthen its technological autonomy, which may affect relations with figures like Musk, who have significant influence in the market. This situation also reflects a broader context of the struggle for influence in the field of technology and information amidst global geopolitical challenges.
