Minister Meets with Representatives of Civil Society Organizations

Ahead of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, Ukraine's Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity, Denys Uliutyn, held a meeting with representatives from civil society organizations. The discussions focused on key issues such as pensions, health recovery programs, nutrition, and official recognition for those who participated in the cleanup of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident.

Key Topics on the Agenda

Among the main issues raised during the meeting was state support for liquidators who do not have a disability directly linked to the disaster’s aftermath. Participants worked on developing mechanisms to ensure this support is provided. The conversation also explored the introduction of a unified system for state social supplements and the standardization of approaches to their allocation and payment.

'It is crucial for us not only to hear all the concerns raised today but also to jointly develop solutions. This dialogue will not end after April 26. We will continue constructive work with civil society organizations to progressively address the challenges faced by people affected by the Chernobyl disaster,' Denys Uliutyn stated.

During the meeting, the minister also honored three liquidators of the Chernobyl accident.

This meeting took place as Ukraine prepares to mark a significant milestone in its history, underscoring the importance of supporting liquidators and their families. Government agencies continue working to resolve the social issues stemming from the disaster, reflecting Ukraine's commitment to assisting those who suffered harm. Continued dialogue with civil society organizations could serve as a vital step toward improving social welfare mechanisms for Chernobyl victims.

In addition to the ongoing support for Chernobyl liquidators, the government is also prioritizing the welfare of vulnerable families as winter approaches. Recently, Ukraine's Social Policy Minister collaborated with UNICEF to discuss preparations and aid strategies. This proactive approach highlights the government's commitment to address various social challenges, ensuring that both Chernobyl victims and families in need receive the necessary assistance during these critical times.
