Ban on the film and renaming of the academy

In addition, the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema has banned the screening of the 2010 film 'Prayer for Hetman Mazepa. New version' due to the participation of Russian actor Mykyta Dzhyhurda in the film. The Ministry of Culture also decided to rename the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after Tchaikovsky to the National Music Academy of Ukraine. This decision was made in accordance with the law of Ukraine 'On the condemnation and prohibition of promoting Russian imperial policies in Ukraine and the decolonization of toponymy'.

Thus, the measures taken by the Ministry of Culture and other state institutions indicate continued efforts to ensure Ukraine's national security and combat propaganda associated with Russian imperial policies. It is important to note that such actions are part of Ukraine's broader strategy to protect cultural identity and national values in the context of the ongoing conflict with Russia. This also underscores the country's commitment to uphold legislation aimed at decolonization and countering harmful influences on society.
