Ukraine's Defense Ministry Enables Remote Military Registration via 'Reserve+' App

Міністерство оборони України запровадило новий додаток для дистанційної реєстрації військовозобов'язаних.

Remote Military Registration Now Available in Ukraine

Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has introduced a new online feature within the 'Reserve+' application, allowing specific groups of citizens to register for military service remotely. This digital process eliminates the need for in-person visits to Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) or Military Medical Commissions (MMCs). This move is part of a broader digitalization effort within Ukraine's state services, particularly relevant for its citizens abroad.

The new remote service is available to the following individuals:

  • Males born in 2009, who must apply by July 31;
  • Men aged 25 to 59 who have never been registered for military service before;
  • Ukrainian citizens currently residing outside of the country.

Registration in the 'Reserve+' app requires biometric identification documents. It is crucial to note that this online registration is exclusively for first-time registrants. Individuals who were previously removed from the military register, as well as women who are eligible for military service, must still apply in person at a TRC. Upon successful completion of the online process, users receive an electronic Reserve ID document with a status of 'Conscript' or 'Person Liable for Military Service'.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized: 'Military registration no longer requires a personal visit to a TRC or MMC. It can now be done in the 'Reserve+' app with just a few clicks, even from abroad.'

The launch of remote registration through 'Reserve+' represents a significant step in streamlining the process for Ukrainians, especially under wartime conditions and mobilization needs. This function saves time and resources while providing access for citizens overseas. However, its limitation to first-time registrants may restrict its overall reach, highlighting potential areas for further reform within Ukraine's military registration framework.
